Our Story
A little bit about the Muslim Association of Canada
The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is a Canadian charitable organization dedicated to educating and motivating Muslims in Canada to put their faith into action. MAC provides spaces, services, and programs that support the holistic educational, spiritual, and personal development of Canadian Muslims.
Over the past two decades, MAC has grown to become the largest grassroots Muslim organization in Canada, with a strong national presence through local chapters in 13 cities across the country. Today, MAC operates 23 community centres, 11 full-time Islamic schools, 20 weekend schools, and 4 childcare centres, collectively serving over 55,000 community members each week.
The MAC Convention was established in 2022 as the Muslim Association of Canada’s premier annual event. It is an extension of the organization’s mission and a space where learning, reflection, and community come together at a large-scale event.
Each year’s convention is shaped around a central theme that responds to the spiritual, social, and intellectual needs of the Muslim community. What began as a gathering for collective growth has since grown into one of Canada’s largest Muslim conventions, bringing together families, youth, educators, professionals, and community leaders from across the country.
The convention is designed to allow attendees to choose how they want to spend their time by selecting the topics and conversations most relevant to their stage of life and interests. Throughout the day, a wide range of sessions take place simultaneously, each focused on different themes and audiences. Attendees can choose sessions that speak to them, whether focused on family life, youth and identity, community leadership, social issues, spirituality, or personal growth, and learn from speakers whose voices and experiences resonate with them.
In the evenings, the entire community comes together in one shared space for powerful main-stage programming. These gatherings feature inspiring talks, reflections, performances, and community moments that unite attendees around the convention’s central theme.
The convention also offers opportunities to engage deeply with ideas through interactive workshops, exhibits, competitions, and creative expression that reflect the diversity and vibrancy of the Ummah.
For families, one of the convention’s greatest strengths is its comprehensive children’s program. Led by trained staff and ECE-certified childcare workers, the program offers a meaningful, age-appropriate experience that includes engaging talks centered around the convention theme, structured activities, a kids’ carnival and snacks. This allows parents to attend sessions with peace of mind, knowing their children are learning, growing, and enjoying themselves.
The convention also features the MAC Expo and Bazaar, a dynamic space where businesses, organizations, culinary experiences, and community initiatives come together. It offers attendees an opportunity to discover resources, experience immersive exhibits, support community-driven work, and connect with people and ideas that extend beyond the convention halls.
At its heart, the MAC Convention is about faith collectively, strengthening family and community bonds, learning from trusted voices, and leaving equipped with practical tools to navigate life with purpose. It is a space where generations gather, questions are explored, and inspiration is translated into action long after the convention ends.
