“If you obey most of those upon the earth, they will lead you away from the path of Allah. They follow nothing but speculation, and they do nothing but lie.”
— Surah Al-An‘ām (6:116)
In every era, truth has often walked with the few — while error marched with the many. From Nūḥ عليه السلام and his handful of followers, to Ibrāhīm عليه السلام standing alone against his people, to the early Muslims of Makkah surrounded by hostile masses — history has taught us that being in the minority can be a mark of clarity, courage, and sincerity. And at other times, seeking to isolate ourselves unnecessarily or glorify being “the few” can reflect arrogance or detachment.
This session tackles the complex question: When is being part of a minority a sign of righteousness, and when is it blameworthy isolation? When is following the majority wisdom, and when is it blind conformity?
